  • ‘Miracle springs’: What should Christians make of Fiji’s healing waters? ~Christian Today

Beloved, do you know how to minister healing? Did you know that as we become aware of God’s power, we will experience His power in our midst … to see blind eyes opened, cripples raised from their wheelchairs, deaf ears opened, and healing of all types of sickness and disease? People will come by the multitudes to hear and see the mighty works of God!

God healed me from a painful disease called vasculitis, which had paralyzed my leg. There was nothing the doctors were able to do for me; but praise be to God, in Matthew 19:26 we learned, But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

God instructed me, “When you tell of this miracle, My healing Presence will be there to heal those who are desperate for My miracle power.” Beloved, this miracle power is for you!

There are important preparations to put in place before ministering healing. They include not only preparing yourself as a channel of God’s healing power, but also preparing the person to whom you are going to minister.

Beloved, the Bible gives us numerous examples of others healing in the Name of Jesus, and how we can use His power to heal. Follow these steps to learn about healing and deliverance, from a biblical perspective:

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God about healing. (Romans 10:17). To increase your own faith, study everything in the Bible on healing. Read the New Testament, and whatever Jesus told His followers to do, you begin to do. Then, whatever He said He would do, expect Him to do it!

If He said you could heal the sick through His power, expect to see them healed. Accept that the Bible means exactly what it says. Accept it as true, and act accordingly.

Fast and pray before you minister. Some afflictions will be healed only by prayer and fasting. Isaiah 58 teaches us that God honors a fast that focuses on ministering to the needs of others.

Begin to minister to the sick, even though you do not understand everything about divine healing, just as you started to witness after being saved, although in reality you had a lot to learn about the Christian life. Begin to minister on the basis of what you know about healing. As you walk in the light you have been given, you will receive more light. Adopt the attitude that there are no hopeless situations … there are only people who have become hopeless about them.

An atmosphere of faith is one of worship and praise. We enter God’s Presence (where there is healing) through worship and praise. Healing can come through worship and praise, even without a healing prayer, because God inhabits the praises of His people. When we praise, He is present to heal. Bring people to a point of decision regarding their healing, just as you do regarding salvation. Remember how Jesus asked the lame man, Wilt thou be made whole? (John 5:6).

Pray for wisdom and discernment before you begin to minister healing. Share any divine wisdom He gives you, and determine if the problem is in the:

  • Spiritual Realm: These are problems related to sin. Pray for spiritual healing.
  • Physical Realm: This is bodily sickness, injury, or disease. Pray for physical healing.
  • Emotional Realm: These include problems like anxiety, anger, guilt, doubt, selfishness, unforgiveness, etc. This is often called “inner healing.” Pray for emotional healing.
  • Mental Realm: These are problems brought on by negative thinking, attacks of Satan on the mind, mental disabilities, etc. Pray for mental healing.
  • Demonic Realm: These are conditions resulting from direct demonic activity, such as demon possession. Pray for deliverance.

The key to answered prayer is praying according to God’s will. Do not pray, “If it is God’s will.” Jesus never prayed, “Heal, if it is your will.” Pray a positive prayer for “God’s will to be done, as it is in heaven” or “according to Thy will.” This acknowledges the sovereignty of God.

Your healing prayer may be one of:

  • Petition: Exodus 32:11
  • Command: Mark 7:32-35
  • Intercession: Ephesians 6:18
  • Deliverance: Mark 9:25

Always pray in the Name of Jesus. Also, remember that it is not lack of faith to pray more than once. It was almost a year before I received my healing. As healing prayers went forth, the glory of God was manifested. As we become aware of God’s power, we will experience His power in our midst.

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

John 14:13

Follow prayer with praise to God for healing. Remember that in the case of the ten lepers whom Jesus ministered to, all were healed, but only the one who returned to praise was made whole. Jesus also thanked God for hearing His prayer before Lazarus ever came out from the tomb.

It is important that those who have been healed receive follow-up ministry. Jesus gave follow-up instructions to those who experienced healing and deliverance:

The man healed of leprosy: (Luke 5:14)
The sinful woman who had been healed: (Luke 8:39)
The man at the pool of Bethesda: (John 5:14)
The woman caught in adultery: (John 8:11)

Beloved, pray a prayer of healing that focuses on the specific problem of illness you have identified. You do not have to persuade God to heal by your prayer. Just as salvation is already available, the same is true of healing. Just as salvation is based on the condition of faith, so is healing. God wants to heal, just as He wants to save. You can minister healing because Jesus commanded you to do so, just as He told you to spread the Gospel.

Say this faith declaration out loud: Father, thank You for making me aware of Your power. Thank You that I can accept Your Word as true, and that if You say You will do something, You WILL do it. I will walk in Your light, believing there are no hopeless situations. I believe that through the power of prayer, I can minister healing, in Your Name. Amen.

Scripture Reading:

Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

James 5:14–15

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Mark 11:24

And when he had called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction.

Matthew 10:1
